Title: WBUW/UPN 14 - WB/UPN merge into CW (My Network TV) Post by: i4tas on January 17, 2006, 03:45 pm I have really enjoyed being able to watch UPN via OTA ever since it has been on WISC digital signal (3-2).
I have found myself watching UPN more now because it is producing more popular programs. One day I was able to view ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ in HDTV form WACY 32 Green Bay and I was amazed in UPN’s HDTV programming. I know that WISC can’t multicast HD-UPN 14, but are there any plans to bring HD UPN to Madison? Will UPN 14 obtain their own digital frequency? (Posted to the AVS forum as well) UPN and WB to merge, only one channel to remain. http://news.com.com/CBS%2C+Warner+to+form+new+network/2100-1026_3-6030437.html Today's Cap Times had an article in the Business section stating that it appeared WBUW would shut down and UPN 14 would be the new remaining Madison affiliate. I don't know what this means for digital and HD broadcasts from the new network in Madison. Wouldn't it be nice if WISC would use their full bandwidth for HD 3-1 and put UPN on the WBUW transmitter? Nah, that's too logical. Title: CW - UPN14 WBUW Post by: i4tas on January 24, 2006, 10:49 pm I was almost positive that WB57 would take over as the CW station (they have analogue, digital, and hdtv). Maybe this CW station will air HD on WBUW's digital 32 signal. The best would be one station becomes a 'cw' and the other an independent.
Title: UPN14 - WBUW Response! Post by: Webmaster on January 25, 2006, 04:16 pm FROM WISC-TV (UPN14):
Quote Thanks for writing in. Unless you've heard something different from 57, we have yet to learn which of us gets the affiliation and which of us gets to be an independent. Thanks again. Jeff Assistant Program Director Producer, For the Record WISC-TV / UPN14 ---------------------------------------------------- FROM WBUW-TV: Quote We will continue to broadcast as Madison’s WB57 and nothing will change until early September. What the merger means for south central Wisconsin viewers is better programming with combined resources and creative talent. The new CW Television network will have the best of what currently is on UPN and WB all-in-one. There’s still a lot to be determined, but WBUW is the obvious choice because of our full over-the-air broadcast station. Regardless of what channel is selected, the viewer wins. Thank you for watching Madison’s WB57. DAVE Creative Services Director Title: UPN14 will be "My Network TV" in Madison Post by: Webmaster on March 14, 2006, 04:10 pm Channel3000.com - WISC-TV - UPN14 To Become My Network TV This Fall - http://www.channel3000.com/wisctv/7822785/detail.html
Quote Thanks for your questions. UPN14 right now airs on digital channel 3-2, not channel 32. The station will continue to air there after the September 5 affiliation switch to My Network TV. A new name for the station has not yet been determined. The switch to My Network TV will probably result in more local programming, including more Badgers and Bucks coverage. But all of that is being worked out. Thanks again! Jeff... Assistant Program Director Producer, For the Record WISC-TV / UPN14 Looks like the article forgot the dash in "3-2", I thought the ‘32’ meant WISC wouldn't multicast. |
