Hi,
I work in telecomm and we have our own techno-speak lingo.

I've seen the term "flash cut" appear a coupla times in these fora and can only guess (assume) at what it means.

Could somebody give me the $2 explanation just to see if my assumption is right.

Thanks,

when a station removes their analog station the same time they start broadcasting digital... this is likely because they are using the same frequency (channel number) and can only have on at a time.  The smaller stations and many stations that were launched in the last ten years were not given FCC permission to operate both a digital and analog.

example fox wausau was never given a digital station and will flash cut...  must have been tough up there to never get OTA HD Fox Packer games.
