I have installed a HDTV converter.  I am not getting Channel 15/NBC.
Is there a reason why?

Well hollendale is in a hilly region if you live in a low spot the signal might be be blocked by a hill. Do you get any other Madison stations?

I live on the westside of Madison and didn't get Channel 15, it works fine in analog.  I looked up that it was actually on 19.1 so I punched it in and magically 15.1 started working.  Apparently it broadcasts on 19, but tells the tv that it is supposed to be 15.

I wasn't looking forward to watching the Superbowl in analog.

I got an email from WMTV with a little more information about their signal and future plans:

Quote from: WMTV
We have an FCC construction permit for increased power and antenna height. WGN-DT is a problem to our SE, but reverting back to channel 15 for digital was a bigger problem due to interference with channel 16 in Rockford, even closer, requiring us to REDUCE power if we went back to 15. The power increase is for the maximum allowable with no interference to WGN-DT at our mileage separation.

Once we can begin disassembling our analog transmission system we can begin working on the digital power increase. That's about all I can say at the moment.

what might happen:

Looks like the FCC never gave WMTV a good choice of digital channels, but it does seem as though they will increase power.  This will help many viewers.  It seems like the digital power increase and better tower will happen the same time the analog shuts off.  From reading at nbc15.com and another source it seems they want to save money by not having analog up in the air, but they want to upgrade their digital before they completely convert (also costing money).  I suspect the change will occur after Feb but before June?

Well, I see a problem with WMTV staying on Channel 19 that I experienced this weekend.  On Sunday I completely lost reception of of 15, 20, 27, 47, and 57.  Channel 3 was still coming in however its signal was in the 40's and was nothing but pixilation.  I was experiencing the same problem with all the Rockford channels as well.  I finally turned off the converter box and started watching analog and realized i was getting some DX affect.  I turned the converter box back on and did a channel scan.  I was getting Milwaukee digital channels 4, 6, 12 & 18 with Chicago digital channels 32 & 66 all coming in at 70%-80%.  On the analog side, Milwaukee stations 4, 6, 12, 18, 24, 36, 49 & 58 came in with Chicago's 7, 9, 11, & 32.  I realize most of these signals problems should go away once analog shuts down with the exception of NBC15.  With both WMTV-NBC15 and WGN Chicago broadcasting digital on channel 19 I have a feeling come summer time viewers in Rock and Walworth counties are going to have some signal issues.
